Sponsored junior internationals win big at Euros

The 2017 EuroHockey Junior Championships were held on 28th August-3rd September this year in Valencia, Spain. Two EVO sponsored players, Harriet Mitchell and Rhys Smith, were selected to represent England U21s women and men respectively. How would they get on against the best that Europe has to offer?

Pretty well, it turns out! We are delighted to report that Harriet was an ever-present in the England women's team that won a bronze medal at the event. Although unlucky to not make the final, the team composed themselves to win a thrilling match against Germany U21s to clinch the bronze. It’s a great feeling when all the hard work the team has put in culminates in success.

We have done countless fitness and training sessions in the pouring rain in the last 6 months and to come out with a bronze to show for it makes all the hard work worthwhile.

England's junior men were unfortunate not to medal, despite some excellent performances. However that did not stop EVO sponsored Rhys Smith from achieving significant personal success. Rhys was honored to to collect the Player of the Tournament award, marking him out as the best male junior player in Europe! See him colecting the award below...

We had a fantastic team. But we valued the importance of being a TEAM and that made the experience so much better.

It’s taken a lot of hours on the pitch. But having exceptional mentors both on and off the field has been so helpful.

Congratulations to both of you. EVO is proud to support you as you strive to even greater successes.
