The Sultan of Johor Cup, currently in its fifth edition, features the U21 international sides of Great Britain, Australia, India, Pakistan, Argentina & Malaysia in a tournament format. GB qualified for the final courtesy of an impressive win over Argentina, earlier in the week.
The final was GB v India and finished 2-2. The opening goal was pure EVO - penalty corner with Rhys Smith stick-stopping for Luke Taylor, GB captain, to drag-flick for the score.
The match went to penalty shuttles and even that couldn't separate the sides after the first 5 - so it went to sudden death, where GB held their nerve to take the win!
This was GB's first ever win in the tournament and reflects the exceptional quality of the current crop of GB Junior internationals, including the EVO coaches (of course!)
Luke, Jonty and Rhys all sent the photos in this article exclusively for EVO Hockey, to wish EVO's young players all the best for the forthcoming 29-30 October camp, for which limited places are still available.
