Venue

EVO HIT is hosted at Tonbridge School, Kent TN9 1JP

Founded in 1553, this stunning, quintessentially British boarding school is a venue where tradition meets innovation. Situated within 150 acres of beautiful grounds, its state-of-the-art training facilities saw the school become recognised as an official Olympic training venue for London 2012. During those Olympics, it was used as the training base of Athletics Australia, who return again for a training camp again in summer 2017.

Tonbridge School offers a magnificent countryside setting within easy reach of London (including tourist sites) and the World Cup Venue, the Olympic Park).

The site has two high quality astroturfs (one international standard waterbase, one sand dressed and watered), plus a magnificent sports centre with wraparound balcony overlooking the pitches.

ACCOMMODATION & FOOD

Teams at EVO HIT will enjoy high quality accommodation in boarding houses - the same accommodation used by Athletics Australia during their training camps. Rooms are a mix of single, twin and dormitory rooms. A typical house includes kitchenette, ample shower & toilet facilities, TV room (some with cinema rooms) and games rooms (with pool, table tennis etc). All houses are on the school site, within easy walking distance of the astroturf pitches.

Excellent standard meals are included in your trip and are served on-site at the school.  See schedule for full list of meals provided. Sample menus will shortly be available.

+ TOURNAMENT RULES

EVO Hockey's philosophy of promoting exciting, creative and attacking hockey is reflected in the rules of EVO HIT 2018.

All matches are 11-a-side and played in accordance with the FIH Rules of Hockey 2017, with the following EVO HIT tournament format variations:

  • In each competition, teams will initially play pool matches, followed by inter-pool matches, placings matches and a final.
  • During pool and inter-pool matches, 5 points are awarded for a win by 3 or more goals. 3 points are awarded for a win by 2 goals or less. 0 points are awarded for a loss.
  • In the event of a drawn game, the result is decided by penalty shuttles, with 3 points awarded for the winner.
  • During all matches, 2 goals are awarded for a goal scored in open play, whereas 1 goal is awarded for goals from penalty corners. A goal scored from a penalty stroke is awarded as 2 goals if the game was in open play at the time the stroke was awarded, and as 1 goal if it is awarded during a penalty corner phase of play.

+ SITE RULES & CONDUCT

At EVO HIT all teams stay together on site. This creates a great international community atmosphere. We have a few rules to make sure the site runs smoothly during the event:

  • No BBQs are allowed at the site.
  • Alcohol, drugs and smoking are strictly prohibited for all players (this is a youth event) and may not be brought onto the site.
  • Please keep your accommodation areas clean and tidy - throw away your rubbish and be considerate of others.
  • Teams are provided with accommodation - you must leave them in reasonable condition at the end of your stay.
  • Please respect our neighbours and keep noise to a minimum at night after the party ends.
